Duo Euterpe, named after one of the nine Greek muses, unites the lively and colourful flute-playing of Franziska Leonhardt with Carmen Alcántara´s gentle and round harp sound. Based in Leipzig and also being resident in orchestra-playing all over Germany, both musicians managed with engagement and creativity to draw attention to themselves as an ensemble during the last year during Corona, acting on the meaning of Euterpe: delight and charming. They were invited to play for the SWM Magdeburg‘s „Kunstpause“ and the virtual Gala of the 26th annual meeting of the Leibniz-Gemeinschaft.”
Concert Premiere: Sunday 25th April
The Great German Composers
Duo Euterpe: Franziska Leonhardt – Flute; Carmen Alcántara – Harp
The extracts from their new programme “The Great German Composers” are also a declaration of love to their new home of choice, Germany, and an expression of the connection to its people.
As part of the festival’s Green Mission, Franziska and Carmen have chosen to complete the following task provided by Harmonic Progression: to practise being thankful to themselves.
